The Mosman Soccer Club is committed to the pevention of injuries. We therefore observe the requirements of the MWFA regarding the following safety precautions:

Soccer boots and shinpads - all players are required to wear soccer boots and shin pads for training and matches

Headgear - with the exception of the goalkeeper, players may not wear headgear. If the goalkeeper is wearing head gear, it must not have a hard brim

Jewellery - no jewellery at all is to be worn

PLAYING FOOTBALL WITH GLASSES

Wearing glasses while playing soccer constitutes a potential danger, not only for the individual player, but also for the opponents in the other team, in particular with head-to-head challenges that may occur in football as part of its contact nature.

ALL GRADES EXCEPT SUB-JUNIORS

Glasses are not permitted to be worn unless the following steps are followed:

Contact Kevin Martin (MW Referees Assoc) 9982 1548 to obtain names of brands of safety glasses that have been approved by the MW Referees.

Attend optometrist and obtain the frames (do not purchase). Optometrist may require a deposit for the frames to be borrowed. Take frames to Kevin Martin who will endorse that they are the approved frames.

Kevin Martin will provide details of the type of lenses that need to be purchased.

Player’s photo for ID Card must have the player wearing the glasses.

ID Card & Photo of player wearing glasses to be taken to Kevin Martin who endorses the back of the Player’s ID Card.

SUB-JUNIORS (Under 6’s to under 8’s)

Glasses may be worn provided they are securely fixed to the child’s head by tape, rubber strap attached to the legs of the frame. Only prescription spectacles may be worn.

A letter from a parent/guardian must be available stating the need to wear the glasses at all times. Parents/guardians should also obtain a letter from an optometrist confirming that the frames and lenses are approved for playing football.  These letters must be produced if required by opposing team.

Parents/guardians may contact Kevin Martin (MW Referees Assoc) 9982 1548 to obtain names of approved safety glass frames and also type of lenses to be installed.
